Jon Lord is a dark wizard, and the high points of Deep Purple are epic - I dare anybody to come up with a better ode to a car than “Highway Star”, even Panama - but they have some real stinkers and mediocrities.

I’m just salty because my local radio station has a “Super Bowl of Rock and Roll” and Deep Purple took out Bowie in the first round.

I would have thought Michael Schenker being a legendary alcoholic and asshole would serve as an excuse, but Russia is like the magical land of assholes and alcoholism, so I’m out of ideas. Must be that whole “band can’t stay together *because* of those things” thing.

I don’t even really like Bowie that much, but how? And why? Smoke on the Water is that much better than all of Bowie’s catalog? Really?

Yeah I dunno I guess Mainers like Deep Purple better. The DJ’s were just as mystified about how people voted.
